A local Board of Directors oversees RMHC-NEO and includes McDonald’s Owner/Operators as well as members of the medical community, business and civic leaders, parent/volunteers, and representatives from the Ronald McDonald Houses of Akron and Cleveland. Supporting the Ronald McDonald Houses of Akron and Cleveland is the cornerstone of RMHC-NEO.
Since 1987, in addition to providing funding to the Ronald McDonald Houses of Akron and Cleveland, RMHC-NEO has awarded over $10 Million dollars to children’s organizations throughout Northeastern Ohio. These funds impact the lives of countless children and their families in the areas of health care and treatment, social services, and education to children.
The RMHC-NEO Board of Directors awards grants to non-profit organizations that are exempt from federal taxation under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Proposed projects must target the 20 county area of Northeastern Ohio represented by McDonald’s Restaurant Owner/Operators. These counties are: Ashland, Ashtabula, Carroll, Coshocton, Crawford, Cuyahoga, Erie, Geauga, Harrison, Holmes, Huron, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, Richland, Stark, Summit, Tuscarawas, and Wayne.
Grant proposals considered by the RMHC-NEO Board of Directors focus on projects that directly affect the well being of children and have consistent and effective management. Projects must address real issues in a definitive, long-term manner and have measurable impact. Grant funds should be used to purchase tangible items used by children. It is a goal of RMHC-NEO to lay foundations of long-term progress and positively impact the lives of children and their families in Northeastern Ohio by continuing the tradition of awarding grants to qualified not-for-profit organizations.
RMHC-NEO has two (2) grant application deadlines each year. Grant application deadlines are the first Tuesday in February with funding decisions made in mid-March, and the first Tuesday in August with funding decisions made in mid-September. Occasionally deadline dates are changed to accommodate holidays or schedule conflicts. Please call or email RMHC-NEO to verify the deadline date.
