University Settlement

Background

University Settlement, located in Cleveland, will receive grant funds to purchase items and equipment to support the Children’s Literacy program aimed at youth to instill a passion for reading. Founded in 1926, the mission of University Settlement is to foster strong and independent individuals and families by providing innovative, valued and collaborative service that meet the evolving needs of the Broadway-Slavic Village community. This grant application was endorsed by McDonald’s Owner/Operator Robert J. Jursich, Jr., owner of several McDonald’s restaurants in Greater Cleveland.

The Up Side of Downs of Northeast Ohio

Background

The Up Side of Downs of Northeast Ohio, located in Independence, received grant funds to purchase furnishings, equipment and educational materials to support their children’s Learning Program classroom. The Learning Program uses research-based teaching strategies and customized materials designed for children in preschool and elementary school with Down syndrome. The mission of The Up Side of Downs is to provide support, education and advocacy for people with Down syndrome, their families and communities. This grant application was endorsed by McDonald’s Owner/Operator Margo, owner of several McDonald’s restaurants in Greater Cleveland.

Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers

Background

Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers, located in Painesville, received a grant to purchase items and equipment to support children staying with their mothers who enter addiction treatment programs at Oak House, a residential treatment facility for women. Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers inspires hope and healthy choices through education and supportive relationships, so individuals and families may recover from the disease of addition. Their mission is to promote lifelong recovery from addiction through education, prevention and treatment regardless of ability to pay. This grant application was endorsed by McDonald’s Owner/Operator Allen D. Smith, owner of McDonald’s restaurants located in Lake and Ashtabula counties.

Crossroads Lake County Adolescent Counseling Services

Background

Crossroads Lake County Adolescent Counseling Services, located in Mentor, received grant funds to purchase items and equipment to support the children’s therapy program at the Crossroads Family Wellness Center located in Willoughby. Crossroads provides a continuum of quality life-changing behavioral health services for children, adolescents, young adults and families, including specialized treatment for chemically dependent adolescents. This grant application was endorsed by McDonald’s Owner/Operator Ali Mandovi, owner of several McDonald’s restaurants in Lake County.
